Renowned Local Chef brings a fresh approach to Delapré Abbey

Delapré Abbey is delighted to announce that local catering company ‘Tom Hewer Catering’ of Northampton will be bringing their own blend of flavours and culinary expertise to the Abbey’s Conservatory Café from the start of November this year.

Opened in Spring this year, the Conservatory Café has been providing a service to walkers, garden lovers and the local community visiting the grounds at the Abbey.

Since April, Amadeus Food has operated the café, providing local employment and a range of food options. Over the months since opening, they have delivered some fantastic food for wedding guests and corporate functions – and have supported the management team‘s ethos of developing strong relationships with the local community. The team are grateful to Amadeus who have worked hard to set up the café and establish the new Conservatory space but is now the right time to reassess the offer for the next phase of the Abbey’s life.

Tom Hewer is one of the leading lights of the Northampton food scene. He is behind a team that run the ‘Franks’ hamburger restaurants and Restaurant Hibiscus which is the new fine dining restaurant situated in the Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton. This team also deliver gourmet foods at major sporting and music festivals across the UK which include Wembley Way and Glastonbury.

Northamptonshire residents may have experienced their food at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club’s ground either watching cricket or attending a stadium concert.

Passionate about produce and sustainability, Tom Hewer Catering only use local suppliers for food, beers, wines and spirits. They know the importance of good quality produce. They have their own butchers and bakery, which allows them to supply all venues with fresh, local produce on a daily basis.

Tom says:

“We will always use local suppliers where possible – Everything is fresh and produced to the highest standard. We are excited by the new contract with Delapré Abbey and look forward to working with local suppliers to provide great tasting food for the café’s visitors”.

The future developments will see us offering conference and event hospitality as well as the weddings at this beautiful location, the team are so excited and we can’t wait to greet guests on the reopening early November.

Rachael Boyd, Director of Delapré Abbey “We’re delighted to be working with a Northampton-based company and hope to increase the number of Northampton food and beverage suppliers who’ll be able to showcase the best of what Northamptonshire has to offer in the new look Conservatory Café”.
